North Raeford Fire Department, established in 1967,  is made of Community members that give their time and efforts into the protection of our community.    Our mission is to provide excellent fire protection during emergency responses, to prevent injury and to protect property.  North Raeford Fire Department strives to maintain the highest level of protection to those living, working and traveling through our district as well as within the Hoke County Mutual Aid area we serve.

Are you looking for a Rewarding, Exciting way to give to your community?  If you are live in the North Raeford area, we have a place for you in our department. We are always recruiting volunteers to help protect our community.  As a volunteer, you can gain FREE experience, certifications and service opportunities.

Minimum Requirements to be a Volunteer Firefighter:

  • Minimum 18 years of Age to be Firefighter
  • Age 16 to 17 to be a Junior Firefighter
  • Live within 6 Miles of NRFD (Some exceptions can be considered)
  • Be of Good Moral Character
  • Pass Criminal History Check

·        The Benefits of Being a Volunteer Firefighter:

·        Volunteer first responders help their fellow citizens in times of need. Volunteers enjoy a sense of accomplishment, achievement, and pride in the work they do. You will learn new skills, make new friends, be a part of a team, give back to the community, and make a REAL difference. Additionally, our volunteers at North Raeford receive a monetary stipend for call response. 

 

It’s a great way to make a new city a home:

·        If you are new to our community you can find volunteering as a way to make a tangible commitment to your new neighborhood. Whether it is to meet people from the area, gain service hours to help you with college applications, scholarships, medical school or just to serve your community, we have a place for you.

 

Full-time firefighter positions can be difficult to get​​​:

·        If you want to be a career firefighter, joining your local volunteer department can be a great way to get some training and experience and make yourself a more desirable candidate the next time they are recruiting at a paid staff department.  If you are trying to move into a career in Firefighting and can't just "go to an academy", this is a way to gain your certifications over a (1) to (2) year period and become fully certified Firefighter I and II.

·        Stop by the station and pick up an application.  Once we receive your application and all the required paperwork that must be submitted with it, you will be invited to attend our next business meeting where you can meet our members and they can get to know you.  Your application will be read and reviewed by the members.  During that meeting, your application will be voted on by the membership.

Fire Chief


Chief Craig Stone

The Chief of North Raeford Fire Department is voted by the Board of Directors to carry out the daily operations of the department, provide leadership, and perform oversight for all administrative functions of the fire department. The Chief responds to incidents the same as all other volunteers at all hours of the day, night and weekends to assist our residents in need.

The Assistant Chief of North Raeford Fire Department is appointed by the Fire Chief. The Assistant Chief assists the Chief of the Department with all responsibilities as assigned. Currently, the Assistant Chief assists with operations and has the administrative responsibility for overseeing the maintenance of the fleet apparatus and equipment.

Administrator

Line Officers carry the rank of Captain and Lieutenants.  They are appointed by the Chief of the Department with consultation of the Assistant Chief.  Each Captain and Lieutenant is assigned to function as a line officer on incidents and carries administrative responsibilities with their assigned rank.

Training Officer

1st LT. David Bolton

Lieutenant David Bolton, Training Officer. 

Lt. David Bolton started his career in 1989, first in Firefighting and then EMS in Alabama.  As a NREMT/Firefighter, he continued his Volunteer Service when relocating to North Carolina.  Being Active Duty Army, he utilized his training on various deployments and assignments throughout his Military Career,  As deployments became frequent, a break in fire service ensued.  After retirement, the call was once again answered and he began service with NRFD.  After his promotion to Lieutenant, he became the NRFD Training Officer, guiding new members to their future careers.
